Boat Rat Matt Our research shows that there are other people jumping in. Some have built some pretty nice amphibians. Others have gotten some good patents. We have been building an amphibious electric stand up board that rides and drives very nicely. The overall concept of combining cycle, scooter and wheelchair technology with surfing, kayaking, and boating technology is a part of the future that is coming to life now. |

Shelby the 0001 Carrera Board was designed and is being built by Boat Rat Matt and the Chrismattic Investment Corporation. Shelby is a concept board that actually works very well. She has bounced off of several trees and rocks and she still floats good. Building her strong enough to handle the rugged off road terrain leading down to the water was one of our first concerns. Making her safe and easy enough for children to ride is our most important objective because kids cannot resist her. |
We began to build Shelby without any drawings. We just had the general idea and began to figure out how to fit the parts together. Though the wheelhouse may look bulky and can definitely be streamlined, it is much more useful than one might realize. To begin with it is designed to house the drive system high and dry out of the water. It can easily be replaced with a different system. It makes a good area to sit and ride. By attaching the wheels to the wheelhouse instead of the hull-chassis there is little risk of damaging the boards seaworthyness if a bump in the road is hit. While building Shelby we began to think of ways to make her sisters even better. We have already begun to build the 0002 Carrera Board which will float over 800 pounds. The 0002 will be 12 feet long and will be somewhat of an amphibious pedicab designed for a rider to comfortably and safely carry a couple of passengers. The passengers will ride on the wheelhouse and the driver will ride up front. The 0002 is designed to ride like a tricycle because it launches into the water so perfectly with its natural chopper incline and the wheel that steers in the front. We also have a single person chopper design that will be much smaller and the rider will ride on the wheelhouse like an old school chopper trike. |
